I don't see why it would be any more difficult to make it sound good with PC. Nowadays you have many devices which support both Windows and OSX. Do these devices sound different when driven under Windows than compared to OSX?

funny you should ask

Wavelength seems to think apple sounds best and empirical audio seems to think windows?

The Duet as has been mentioned in this thread was designed to work with Core Audio from Apple

The windows equivalent of core audio resamples everything to 48/16. Since this is almost never desirable, it means that anyone that wants something better than that has to go with something else, which requires more work. Specifically, benchmark felt like they had to write their own drivers from the ground up, for example. By using Apple Core Audio and firewire, apogee was able to code to a standard, and have things work exactly the way they wanted without additional effort. It makes a difference. Include 1 chip (firewire support) vs jump through the hoops it takes to get usb sound to sound good on windows.

I don't have one, although odds are good I'll pick one up. I'm just pointing out technical details as to why things were done the way they were. Apogee is a good company, and I've owned a few of their converters, and currently use a minidac.

... or VMware. I know. I would still prefer not to have to use them.
