Westone 3 - You asked for it, we listened !

Has anyone actually heard these yet? I did a forum search but didn't come up with anything specific. Basic question is: Will I want to replace my E500s?

It's surprising that customs cost the same as the universals!!! Then again, we will have to spend an extra 100 bucks for the audiologist visit.

I hope it gets shipped on the 21st. Doug is very quiet ( is very busy, I guess).

Thank you, ath. I missed that thread. I don't know who Ray Samuels is but it seems he has good taste... by inferrence from the other IEMs he mentions. So, I guess I should plan on replacing the E500.

Ray Samuels created the Hornet and Tomahawk amps (among others that this newbie is unaware of, I'm sure) so he's a demigod around here. Still, you might wait a few weeks for reviews and comparisons to roll in. There have been a few less enthusiastic reviews from people other than Ra, suggesting the W3 isn't THAT big of an improvement. Personally, I'm feeling optimistic about this. Everyone does seem to agree the W3 is at least as good as the E500 (and cheaper!)

there is no price for the customs yet and it isn't going to be close to the same ;p it's supposed to be more than the ES2

I don't think anyone else listened to the 3's as much as Ray did (obviously other than Doug)

The only other reviewer I can think of is wakeride74. His review is in the Head-fi meet thread.

Hopefully in a couple of weeks the reviews should start pouring

There are at least five other reviews/impressions scattered throughout various threads. Though you are right, Ray probably had them the longest. I keep hoping that Westone would get their new website up and running before the release date. More marketing materials to salivate over...

Is it truth, that the Westone 3 release has been delayed another 1 month? Someone in the german forum posted this as information from his dealer.
