Man it looks very promising as many here have posted. I wonder how it will compare with the E500 and the Triple.Fi?
Well, Doug has promised me a chance at the 3's to review head to head with the 3 fis... I'm waiting with some serious anticipation here. I've already done the review of the 3 fis against the E500's, I liked the 3 fis better and sold the E500's off.

The UM3's are WAY better than the E500 and Triple.Fi. The Triple.Fi's were a horrible disappointment to me when I listened to them. Interestingly enough, at first when I listened to the UM3's I didn't have the headphone plug plugged in all the way and thought to myself, "Hrm... these don't sound THAT great... They sound a lot like the Triple.Fi's..." Then I realized my error and corrected it. WOW was all I could think. I KNOW I had the Triple.Fi's plugged in all the way when I tried them too...
The E500 didn't really have a "wow" effect on me. It was just kinda, "Sure sounds good." but nothing really stood out.
The Livewires are a lot more articulate than the Triple.Fi's and E500. The E500 just seems to have a more full sound.
"The official release date for the Westone 3 is June 21st. This "Buy it Now" will lock you in to the first on the plane with these great ears. You are pre-buying. That is; when the Westone 3's arrive here at Freq City Sound & Lighting, yours will be the first out the door. "

I think Freq City is just throwing a date out there, since none of the other vendors nor Powderhound have mentioned that date.
Fark: Interesting statement on the LiveWires and other premiums. I agree with you on the TF10P phones, I couldn't quite figure out why they were so expensive and supposed to be so good. My Shure SE310s have a similar sound signature for half the price and much better fit. I haven't had a chance to sit down with some E500/SE530s to try them out yet.

ER-6i -> ER-4P -> Auditioned Triple.fi #52/1000, didn't like the midrange recession -> ER-4P -> Shure SE310 -> Atrio M5 -> LiveWires (when my Atrios ended up as roadkill, very sad) -> Atrio M5 -> Auditioned q-Jays, thought they were a little too uneven and very finicky with recording quality -> Atrio M5 -> auditioned Denon AH-C700, didn't like the lack of isolation -> Atrio M5 -> auditioned Klipsch Custom-3 and wasn't impressed -> Atrio M5 -> Sleek SA6 (under testing, but initial impression brands them as a keeper)
Jazz aficionado (and DJ), electronica enthusiast, rock'n'roller, and all around music junkie.
If you look back in the thread, it's stuck at $399. Some vendors may throw in some free stuff for that, but looks like everyone has to abide by the $399 MSRP, unfortunately (I was hoping for a $300 price point)-:

I didn't really feel like sorting thru 50+ pages of the thread. Thanks!
