IMO, the quality of the tubes being manufactured in China has improved by leaps in bound. I remember using 12AX7 tubes in my Fender Champ amp and I literally had to switch to NOS tubes. This was about 15 years ago.

Now w/ the EF-1 as well as other Chineese tube amps their sound is very good w/ the stock tubes. For example, I have two NOS 12AU7's for the EF-1. IMO they are not that much better than the Chinese tubes that come w/ the amp.

I know that many here will jump on my case but that is what I hear.

Certainly better than Electro-Harmonix.

China has been taking a serious interest in experimenting with cryo treated tubes in the last couple of years.
