I got mine today. Since the power plug is incompatible with German 220V wall sockets, I expected to recharge batteries myself -> Meaning that I had to open the case anyway for he occasional battery swapping. There's just a sticker with a void-warranty-warning to break, it's placed over one of the two screws holding the (Hammond) case together.
Aside from what you can see on the pics on the first page, there are to chips on the underside of the PCB. Both are 8-legged SOIC packages and I have a strong feeling that each of them drives one channel. Now for the 1 million question "exactly what chips are we talking about?", I sadly have no answer - the markings on each chip have been thoroughly removed.
Ooh nice, so its theoretically a step up from a cmoy. Perhaps one OP amp buffers current/power to the other (like a hornet or AE-2, someone please correct me if I am wrong on that)? My little Sweetpig amp is set up that way. There aren't many dual SOIC amp designs... that run off 3 Volts. Little Dot Micro and Micro+ come to mind right away.
In my CD Player:
Dreamtheater, Queen, Rush, Marillion, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Dio, Queensryche, Kings-X, Jethro', Yes, Primus, Eric Johnson, Liquid Tension Experiment, Junior Brown, Moody Blues, The Beatles, Styx, Asia

the amp clears up a lot of congestion in faster, more bassy music that would piss me off listening with IEMs in. also the cymbals sound more sustained and freed up so they dont sound splashy.
i can tell there is a bit more to be freed up, because ive got to get used to listening to Grados again after my 2 week hiatus and after i sell both my portable amps im going after an AE-2 in about a month or so and ill see where that goes.
Microshar says 230 hours, IIRC. It runs on 2.4V (two NiMH cells) and I don't think I saw a step-up-converter in there.
Hmm, hopefully it has more than 2.4v. 1vRMS (common output of portable devices) is ~2.828vpp sine wave (e.g. you need >2.828v supply just to get a unity gain buffer out of this).
Hmm...230 hours? Okay, so then they're figuring 10mA quiescent or is that figuring in projected average draw while driving headphones?

Mercuttio Jones turns on his heel, and runs back towards the sound of Alu screaming. With tears in his eyes, Short Thaddy sprints towards the surface.
im listening to the Black Rain album by Ozzy and it sounds really really warm.
it does naturally dude to the nature of the Grados but the amp further accents this attribute.
the AKGs just sound even more AKG but a more bassy and refined high end. nothing happened to the mids though. i think its because my AKGs were meant to sound this way the whole time when properly powered.
They say that you can specify the gain. I am new but am thinking about ordering one. What gain would I want to use with a motorcycle intercom system? Two helmets, input is a Sony MiniDisc or an MP3 player. Thanks.
