Default KSC-75 Re-Cable Impressions

Well, I read a page in the Headphone Forum about wanting to know how to and what the effects of recabling KSC-75s is, so I took and finally recabled mine.

I uesed Neutrik mini connector -> 4 runs of 26 ga SCC -> tech flex covered -> ends clear heat shrink covered.

My initial impression was that solderign to the contact points on the phone was going to be a pain. However, when I opened it the points were alot bigger than I expected, so that ended up being about the quickest part of the operation.

SOUND:

I can notice a slight increse in detail, and oddly enough It seems that I am getting alittle tighter bass response. THe detail is still not up to the level of my A250s, but I'm greatly enjoying these "new" phones.

Just for the intrested, I haev Kramer modded and wuarter modded these.

Im afraid that between all the mods I have made them TOO bright. I am gonig to get a newset of foam pads and hope that that takes care of the prob.

I compared my StarQuad, SPC, and stock KSC75s, and my very condensed opinions:

StarQuad: Bassier, fun to listen to (had me toe-tappin along)
SPC: Brighter, more detailed, I noticed a few things I didn't with the other two
Stock: Fairly neutral

That was listening to 2-3 songs, and swapping ear clips so I'd always use the same ones.

Afterwards, I did some very quick A/Bing, and frankly they all sounded exactly the same.

Where are you getting the new pads from? I might consider picking up a pair, just so I have 3 sets of non-modded pads.

I thought that I could find them at the local rat shack, but I couldent. I think taht I might look into some other pads to see if I could get something alittle better wuality, be it from a diff set of kosses or other brands.

Well, the sharpness seemed to be me being off taht day. I am greatly enjoying these phones. On the pad issue I found some Koss HPs at walmart that used the same pads and even came with an extra set, but $5 was too much of a hastle at the moment. Hoever I do plan to get some here soon.
