Front Panel Express - HPGL Files
Anyone here use HPGL files when making their FPE panels?
I'm big into fonts and wasn't terribly happy with the included fonts that the Front Panel Designer software offered.
I downloaded a demo of Corel Draw, followed the instructions that FPE provides and created something that I think should come out good, but I'm not 100% sure I did everything right.
Do the actual FPE panels usually come very close to how the designer shows them to be? The picture above is a bit zoomed in, when I print it actual size (5.528 x 1.52") it looks perfect from my printer.

The final result does justice to the computer image.
IMO, mixing different fonts like you did above doesn't loo good in the end.
THe Minimax looks nice, but the left side one kind of seems wrong there.
Just my 0.02 €

No prob, thanks for the opinion. Ya know, I was kinda thinking the same thing about the left side. I switched it back and forth a few times, and although I almost always love Neutraface, I'm not sure it fits well there either. I'll keep messing around with it.
I appreciate your $0.027 USD

Have the folks at FPE updated to accept the font your working with? Last time I checked they had a somewhat limited offering, so I decided to go witha local engraver to do some work for me. No machining, just the lettering.

I think thats the benefit of using an HPGL file. As far as FPE is concerned, its just vector artwork, not a specific font. I'm using the font in Corel Draw and exporting it as an HPGL file, which is then imported into the Front Panel Designer.
I may be incorrect, but to the best of my knowledge thats the case.

Hello,
I am interested in how you did this also. Is that how you would get a Headphone Symbol or symbols in General into FPE?

Yes, that's how you get symbols and artwork into FPE. I've seen whole panel artwork done as HPGL:

I've used Illustrator to do similar. Unfortunately the laser cutter here on campus will not cut metal (no custom enclosure ) , but it will etch it, and I'll probably be doing this for a millet starving student amp soon.
