You dont need 1/2W resistors for a cable like this. If you are DISSIPATING 1/8W in this resistor, you have some issues with excessive volume levels (IMHO) use 1/8W parts, they are smaller so you have more room for mechanical errors.
Although I am not familar with that connector in specfic for others this is what I do:
Bend the lead on ONE END of the resistor so it goes back towards the other end. then solder the wire to this bent lead next to the body of the resistor. trim the lead as appropriate. Heat-shrink the resistor and end of the wire together. Solder the other lead of the resistor to the connector on the plug.
