Default $20 AKG k701 hardcase

I will mostly let the pictures do the talking, but here is the BOM I used:

- 1 piece of 2" foam - $6
- 1 piece of 1" foam - $5
- 1/2 yd. of velvet - $6
- Portable coctail set from my church's rummage sale - $3

$20 total.

Yeah, it is a little beat up, but this is better to me than the hardcases they sell at home depot. Definitely more unique.

Comparing to nothing in the picture, it looks HUGE on the outside, but then inside, it fits the 701 perfectly lol.

It is 12"x11.5"x6". So the picture doesn't do it justice. It is not very big. You are right, it looks like a suitcase without any frame of reference.

The case looks so vintage, and then has these nice shiny K701s inside... looks like it would fit better with a K340 or something. Nice find though.

This is my first set of AKG so I don't know anything about the vintage stuff. I sure like this for my 701s though.

If you want to model it with some AKGs from '75 or 76, definitely period appropriate, just holler.

I need to find one similar for my phones, too easy to have somebody sit on them, or get left in direct sunlight or something.

Thanks for the picts and inspiration!

You should come to the mini-meet I am trying to organize in July.

An East San Diego mini-meet this summer? A poll.

I can't imagine wanting to carry a big hardcase suitcase for headphones. I used this on a trip to Palm Springs a few weeks ago and it was only a little bulky. However, can you imagine how thrashed the 701s would have been without the case?

Whoa.
