Would getting a cmoy amp be a worthwhile addition for me?
I am going to use 595 HDs on my computer with a Chaintech-AV 710 soundcard. Would getting a cmoy amp off ebay give me a noticeably better sound/juice? I will be using them for music only. I have read that to use the high quality output of my soundcard an amp would help, but I have also read it wouldn't make much difference, so I am a bit confused.
Cheap amp is better than no amp or would it not be worth it in this case?
thanks!

I dont think a cheap amp would make alot of difference with easy to drive headphones. Ive never owned those though.
If it has a different sound and balances something you wanna change on the av710,then maybe.
Id get a much better amp. Ya got good phones, save for an amp/dac combo maybe,,or a home amp.
Search threads on 580s and see what people use.

both the Cmoy and your sound card use opamps, and probably about the same grade (sound wise). So a Cmoy probably won't help much if at all.
You probably want an amp with more current capability to improve the SQ, such as a PPA.

Wait... I swear I remember reading somewhere that the AV-710 has only a line-out, w/no opamps
I consider my cmoy worthwhile, and I'm using an AV 710 and easily driven headphones, sound improves noticeably.

I've read so many diverging opinions on the 595s and amps. I'm not too sure what to think.
Aside from a cmoy what would be an appropriate amp for home use? I wouldn't want to spend more than 120 or so on one. Would a bass booster cmoy fit the 595s better than a normal cmoy? I have read that the bass on them doesn't punch enough.

after reading some more about amps and the 595s, I think I will aim to have this setup, eventually
Source: Beresford TC-7510 MKIII
amp: Little Dot MK III
Headphones: HD595
I'll probably start with the amp.

WOW, that's a lot more than what you were originally aiming for lol. For my tight budget, I <3 my cmoy/AV-710/MS-1.

yea I know.. stupid forum is already costing me money I ordered the amp but i'll hold off on the DAC for a while. The AV710 is a decent source, for a computer anyway.
