Default Travagans v Firestone Audio?

Anyone know why David Lin (I believe that's his name) left Firestone to start Travagans other than for potentially greater profits? Was there some disagreement regarding quality control or anything like that? Or is it safe to assume the quality of Firestone's products has not slipped?

Thanks.

Update and clarification:

I am considering the following three equipment chains:

Firestone Fubar II -> Vintage Kenwood KR-720 Receiver (headphone out and speaker use)
Firestone Fubar III (Solo and receiver hookup for speaker use)
and
Travagans White (no possibility of connecting to receiver)

Is it likely either the Fubar III or White would be a better amplifier than that in the Kenwood? I have opened the Kenwood and could not tell wether it was a discreet headphone amplifier circuit or not.

Any advice regarding these products v. a decent vintage receiver would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
