Congrats to Todd and Pete for the positive review of the TTVJ Portable Millett Hybrid Amp in Tone Audio No. 12! The reviewer gives the amp high marks and emphasized how nicely it matches with an iMod from Red Wine Audio*, which was something I found in my time with the amp on Todd's loaner program. He used the amp with GS1000s, K701s, HD600/650 and some Koss Pro 4aa cans and said it drove all of them with ease. It would have been nice to have a little more depth in the review, but it is great exposure in an online mag that has a devoted section called "Headphone Planet." Check out the review and the mag at
Tone Audio No. 12.
Great work Todd and Pete! I loved the amp on my trial and highly recommend it for transportable or home/office use. The reviewer notes what Todd freely acknowledges regarding the potential for microphonics and ringing of the tubes when moving the amp around or banging into it, but that can be addressed even when using it in a truly portable setup other than jogging or some such.
Now, when is that phono stage coming out?
* One thing the reviewer says seems a little suspect. He praised listening to the iMod "plugged directly into the GS1000s" as being the "easily the best I have heard yet" from an iPod, and certainly better than his iPod Mini with ALO Cryo Dock. Now, maybe I am misunderstanding him but he seems to be saying that the iMod's headphone out was the best he has heard an iPod sound even though Vinnie doesn't do anything to that output on the 5/5.5 G iMods (the only ones where you can plug headphones in directly). Seems like he liked the stock sound of the iPod over the Mini, but he also seems to think it was upgraded/modded in some way.
