The Cantate took almost exactly 2 weeks to reach Dallas. Jan Shipped on a Sat. I received it on 2 weeks later on a Fri. OK take off 1 day;_)
I do hear a very big difference from the balanced ground concept.
The Cantate sounds much more like my balanced amp than a SE amp.
But that's just IME. YMMV.
Regardless I bet you will have a lot of fun with the Opera.
I,m getting one after I get my Darkvoice337.

Actually I think I'll keep the Headfive for now and start saving up for the Opera, which I predict will end my head-fi journey (HA! I told myself that when I got the Headfive).

Skylab...this is a really nice review!
I almost bought a Cantate but now I´ve decided to save up for a Opera instead.
But how does the Darkvoice 337 do compared with the Meier amps? Is it better ( or just different) from the Opera?
Am I mistaken and it´s more in the Cantate level than the Opera´s?

I don't think comparing tube and solid state amps really works all that well - they have different strengths and weaknesses. The Opera and DV337 are both wonderful, incredibly enjoyable amps. I'm glad I own both

I'm burning in my Arietta as we speak. It's quite the little beast. Really synergizes well with both my HD595 and PL750. Definately one of the best <250$ SS amps I've tried. It's slight warmth really suits well to driving the sometimes bland HD595. There really isn't a good Arietta rewiew, so once I get some good burnin and playing time I'll start a thread. Again many kudos for Skylab for his endless amp testing.

Been 13 days now. No Opera. No patience.

It will be worth the wait. I bought mine from TTVJ and it took about 10 days. The amp sounds better and better every time I listen. I've had mine about 5 months now and no urge to upgrade (other than my portable amp no longer sounds as good as it used to).

Just got the Opera from TTVJ pretty quick
I was afraid I wouldn't be able to hear the differences between the Headfive and the Opera to justify such a grand (get it lol) purchase, but quick testing on Highway Star (FLAC) through V2 DBs revealed a lot. The things that stood out to me most was the midrange and separation. The bass kicks were crisp and clear, the guitars and organs were separate entities. And this is just straight out of the box and sourced by a EB01. Pretty sure the internal DAC is equal to or greater than it, so it might even get better.
I kind of feel bad for not having anything like HD650 or K701 to test out this beast's potential. :P
P.S. Skylab, was it okay to post this in your thread?

Thanks, Skylab! Had I read this review earlier, I would have bought the Arietta, and not the Move.... :P

Hi,
I'm just wondering the following: are you getting a headsix for comparison in both of your threads?

Cantate took 3 weeks to arrive in Greece. (still waiting for hd650 tho...)
Got it 2 days ago but this is only due to greece being so slow since i read people from almost all over the world getting meier amps in like a week.
Anyway, just try to forget it and it will come. :P

Skylab, you mentioned the Aria sounded "thin" in comparison to the Cantate (and also that you liked the warmer sound of the Arietta "slightly" better) Do you think headphones like the HD650s (which I find to be very warm), might benefit from this lack of warmth in the Aria and perhaps pair better with it than the Arietta?

Since you believe the HD650's are "very warm", I'd say you'd prefer the Aria with them, yes.
