Default received my little dot micro tube today!

wow! what a cool little amp. this is my first experience with an amp, but i can definitely notice the improvement. it really makes my 595's sing. bass is unbelievable. as a matter of fact, it may be a little boomy, but i hear that will change with some break in. the only negative that i can think of is the fact that it tames the highs of my sr325i's. i like em bright. anyway, i am on the waiting list for a hornet. with the hornet also tame the highs on my 325i's. i hope not. oh well, i can always listen to them unamped if that is the case. big time recommendation on the micro-tube. not to mention it is so fricken cool looking!

Congrats!

I've wanted a micro tube, it's pretty slick. Nothing like buying an amp to hold you over while the second one is delayed

let me tell you, the wait for the hornet is killing me. i had to have something now, so i figured why not the micro-tube. i have heard bunches of good things about it and you can't beat the price. plus it is so damn cool looking. plus i am working on getting a pair of senn 650's and the zune alone just can't handle that.

edit: but let me tell you, this is my first experience with an amp and i can tell that i could make myself deaf with this thing real quick. i think i am listening at the same volume as before, but everything is so much clearer and defined that once i take off the phones my ears are ringing like a bitch. obviously i am listening at a higher volume then before since i have never had that problem before. gotta watch that knob!

Great choice on the 650

If you are truly concerned about your listening levels (as you should be), you can test this easily using a SPL meter. this is how that can be done.

If your ears are ringing after listening, you need to turn the volume down. Waaaay down.

yeah, i figured that out real quick. i am just not used to listening with an amp. for some reason an amp doesn't sound as loud as unamped even though it is. remember, this is my first amp.

Yeah, that is a dangerous thing. I think if you're used to listening out of plain headphone jacks you're used to the sound getting "shouty" when it gets loud, but with a decent amp everything is kept in proportion, just louder, so that "oh crap, this is loud!" indication isn't quite as apparent.

Nice amp!

And yea, watch that knob for sure. The advice I've heard is to start WAY too quiet, then turn up the knob slowly until it is "not too quiet."

Sometimes I like to jack the volume up louder for certain passages, but always turn it back down before too long.

yeah, that's what i am doing right now. i keep it at 10 o'clock most of the time. then if some kick ass song comes on (i keep the zune on shuffle) i crank it to 11 o'clock. let me tell you, 11 o'clock is about all i can handle. when i first got it i was at 11 constantly. then i went to piss and realized i felt like i had been at a pantera concert. that's when i realized the dangers of amps.

pardon me for posting on top of my self, but i am just amazed! i am listening to nirvana unplugged with my 595's and on "about a girl" i can actually hear the pick hitting the strings. this is the first that i have heard this. pardon me for being such a newbie but that is amazing to me. i cannot wait for my akg-701's or senn 650's (haven't really decided yet, leaning toward the 650's).
