I would appreciate if you make a "subjective" ranking among these portable amps. (will be used with ER-4P)
1 - Xin Supermacro IV
2 - GoVibe V6
3 - MisterX XP
4 - Xenos 0HA-REP
5 - HeadRoom Total AirHead
6 - Practical Devices XM4
I just want to acquire some perception; so please take it easy.
One more thing: Some say the user had better use them (i.e. Total AirHead) with ER-4P rather than ER-4S:
I went back and forth between the ER4S and the ER4P, with and without the Headroom amp and the combination that clearly emerged the sonic winner for me was the ER4P with the Headroom amp. The ER4S definitely sounded smooth and accurate, but, when compared with the ER4P, the ER4S seemed a little thin; a little lacking in low-end impact. The ER4P, on the other hand, lacked nothing. Smooth treble, tight extended bass, without a hint of thump or tubbiness and a very solid and fairly wide sense of imaging, particularly with the Headroom processor on (more on this later).
and concludes:
Do I think the ER4Ps sound good solo? Of course. They're a very nice set of headphones - very accurate, detailed and pleasant. Would I bring them along on a trip without the Headroom amp? No WAY! I love the synergy between these two and splitting them up would be like a messy divorce, so I'm just not going to do it.
1=1 - Xin Supermacro IV
2=2 - GoVibe V6
3=3 - MisterX XP
5=4 - Xenos 0HA-REP
?=5 - HeadRoom Total AirHead
4=6 - Practical Devices XM4
The XM4 could be tied with the Go Vibe for the 2nd place if your replace the OPA2134 with an AD8620 op-amp. I did not rank the Total AirHead since I have not listened to their latest version. Good luck.

Why are you ranking the XP so low? As far as I am concerned it should be near if not the top of the list as far as those listed.

I went back to the post I did with Vorlon a few months ago to refresh my memory. I have adjusted my post. That is the problem when you get old and do not have the amps in front of you.

Have you ever had a XP amp in front of you?
(the XP is not the same thing as a pint)
The circuit board layout, shape and size are all totally different.
The ground channel is totally deferent
and
The left and right channel are very different.
i thought (incorrectly i guess) that an xp was a pint clone?
How did you ever come to that conclusion?
Or better yet:
Does it make any sense to you that someone would "clone" a circuit board that the developer "pulled" because it was a "flawed design"?
