Ordering the Lisa III
Hi all,
I'm based in the UK and would like to order a Lisa III.
I'm assuming that since the PayPal purchase buttons are
on the Triad site that they're in stock.
Has anyone here purchased recently and can give me an
idea of how long they take to ship after purchasing?
Also...if anyone reading this has one they'd like to sell then
please PM me!!!
Cheers.

I purchased a Lisa III XP a couple of weeks ago, and it arrived within about 5 days here in the US. I don't know how there overseas shipping times are.
You can read some more about my experiences with it here:
Lisa III - any new ones being delivered?
and further down the thread here:
I prefer Apuresound ER-4P than ER-4S

Ok, so it sounds pretty good. Are there any options that
need to be specified such as gain, finish etc?

I ordered mine online, and then I got an email back from them offering a choice of finishes they had on hand at the time. I chose a black aluminum body with tiger wood endplates. There is no extra charge for the wood endplates, but I guess you can pay also extra for a full wood body.
Maybe you could email them first and find out what your choices would be, if that is important to you.
The other choice is whether to get a regular or XP model.
I also read on here that someone had ordered a custom higher gain setting. I use mine with easy to drive headphones so the normal gain is plenty. Again you might want to see what they recommend for the headphones you will be using.
Their website is not very clear (for example it does not ever mention that a charger for the batteries is needed, and that you have to order it separately from someone else) and some have found them slow to respond to emails. I guess it is a small operation and they are not as on top of things as possible. But the amp itself is a beauty and sounds great.

Im in the same boat - i raised the power supply issue on another thread and didnt get a clear response. The issue is - if you buy one of these, where in the UK can you get the requisite PSU / charger, etc and a link to this to make purchase easy. Surely there should be some sort of advice or link on their website / FAQ.....
Am i being unreasonable??!?!?!
I only raise this as on that same thread some UK buyers had all sorts of problems, charger related, and ended up having to ship the Lisa back several times. Not somethign id like to do !
Regards
Lee

Hi Nirmalanow
I just need the normal gain for my Ultrasone 750's.
Yep, the charger issue is a pain but I think I can source
an alternative. Like you say, it should be made clearer.
I can sympathise to a certain extent, but it would make it alot
easier if alternative PSU's were recommended on the Triad site
based on customer experiences.
I did get great service from Brad today though I must say
Glad you're enjoying your amp!

@ Lee again:
Found a previous post by Musicdiddy from the UK regarding the PSU.

They have a site in the Netherlands at RS Electronics - industrial electronic components distributor & if you do a search for part number 423-9252 that should sort you out.

I found this PSU (partno 423-9252 ) on their UK site:
rswww.com |* ATPS 2324, ANSMANN, Selectable o/p SMPS adaptor,12-24Vdc o/p, 423-9252
I need to ask Triad if this is suitable.....

I can sympathise to a certain extent, but it wouldn't take too much
effort to make a few resoanably small changes which would save them
having to answer the same questions again and again via email.

It does not ever make sense to make it hard to buy and use your product, so it does seem like they could clean up their act even if it takes them a little longer than a bigger company. It also just seems silly to sell a device with a built in rechargeable battery and to not include the charger. I know this has been pointed out to them as I read about this on another thread here on Headfi. In fact that is where I found out I was going to have to find and buy a charger (which fortunately is easy here in the States). Even if you have to raise the price to do it, include the charger. The amp is useless without it, so it is not an optional extra.
I am very happy with my amp, but overall not so thrilled with the buying process. But all is now forgiven when I sit down and listen!

Hi Nirmalanow
I'm discussing options with Brad as to what PSU is suitable for the UK (and 230v) market so maybe he'll update here.
I found a Linear Regulated PSU (used by head-fi member Lexnasa) which looks good. At least he seems to be using it with no problems. I'm sure I read that a linear regulated PSU is best for the Lisa XP.

*** UPDATE ***
Lexnasa has confirmed that the regulated PSU above did not charge the batteries properly so he ended up buying a Medical PSU from the RS site.
He's going to send the part no. later so I'll update the thread with the details.
All good fun.....
Oh...anyone know how to change a thread name ?

Slightly off thread again - but still to do with me buying one (!) just ckicked on the paypal logo for an XP outisde US - which says above: -
$550 plus shipping ($30 shipping in 48 states USA, $45 Rest of World. ) Shipping included in Final Price by default
When you go to pay it says $595 - whcih I understand to be $550 + $45 for shipping - it then adds another $20 for shipping underneath !
Surely not right?????

Well said !
Am glad it's not just me who thinks this is barking mad - regardless of how good a bloke Brad is or how good the product is....all this pissing about with chargers is a right royal pain in the ass.
Why not just include one and raise the price?!
