DAC runs on USB power, amp runs on battery power (or wall power if it's plugged in).

Yes, you can. There is a linear regulated power supply inside the amp for when running on wall power. The amp will switch to the wall power when plugged in, allowing the battery to charge without the charge controller being falsely triggered by peak amplifier currents. The battery does not continuously charge, it tapers off and stops when the battery is full. The charging is indicated by an LED on the front panel.

This was not about any noise, this thing is dead quiet, moreso than the Hornet even but I wanted to make sure that the amplification of the source signal was consistant weather using the DAC or the input due to that bass distortion in those few tracks I had mentioned in my original post. I think it's safe to say now that the issue is with the source recording... or the dac being too transparent
