From the pics I've seen so far I really like the Gunmetal, so much so that I'm starting to think I should have went with the Gunmetal instead of Black. I'd really like to see the Bronze as well, has there been any pics of it posted?
I will try to post my Bronze on New Year's Day. I have one of the few amp-only Picos (I had just upgraded my Microdac to the 2007 board and it seemed excessive to have both). The good news is that combined with the Microdac, the Pico is extraordinary. I would love to hear this combo vs. the Pico amp/dac combo. Mine is heading to Chicago at the end of the week to my dear friend Skylab for his comprehensive review. I hope the turn around is short as it will be sorely missed!
I know this is burried somewhere in all the Pico info but can someone tell me if the Pico draws its power from the battery alone or does it switch when in DAC mode and draw power from the USB connection?
I keep going back to those 3-4 tracks that we producing bass issues with the Pico and I notice that they are gone when used as a stand alone amp. This leads me back to my original thoguhts that the issues is the the recording quality of the source material. Anyone that has Lilly Allen's CD can understand where I'm at on this one. The other issue could be lack of sufficent power in DAC mode which does not make much sense to me since I ran some seriously bass have music through it at high volumes with no issues.
On a side note, switching from the iPod>ALO>Pico>PS-1 to the PC/USB>Pico>PS-1 is just jaw dropping with respect to the improvement in detail and resolution. You really don't know what you are missing until that dac is in the loop, I just continue to be impressed with this thing!

battery for the amp always, dac is powered only from usb.
Just to make sure I understand... so the da portion is powered by the USB alone but the amp section is separate and only draws power from the battery at all times? If this is the case then the source material would be to blame 100% for these issues correct? The DAC is giving my a crystal clear picture of the source material and the amp is simply powering that picture so the flaw would be as I suspected with the source recording... right?
If this is the case I need to remove these from my referrence list as they will just muddy the waters.

from what justin said in the pre-order pico thread, the pico runs off AC power when plugged in and then off battery power when unplugged (the amp section, that is). i had originally thought that it would always run off the battery, even when plugged in (like the RWA sig30 amp), but justin's said otherwise. i've not used it yet while plugged in, so cannot say whether there is any discernible noise...off the battery, it's dead quiet, even with sensitive custom IEMs.
