So for me the added value of a video is very little, it might even make you more frustrated seeing how easily it can be done .

Eric, despite Hans' reservations, I have accepted your challenge and made my very first YouTube video! (Apologies in advance for the crappy picture quality and stumbling narration...)

The review was conducted by Marja Vanderloo & Henk "LongBeard" Boot. It provides some fascinating insight into the origins and development of the iQube, with particular attention paid to its Class D topology.

Congrats, Hans!

Very instructive video and very good presentation. Yea, it was a little blurry but you I got the message which is the primary thing to get across.

Questions about AC power & recharging
1. Can the amp be used with just an AC adapter, sans batteries, as a home amp?
2. Has anyone determined which of the Radio Shack PS adapter tips work with the iQube?
TIA.

Thanks for your comments, I was hoping it might be useful to do. I used a little flash-based Flip Video recorder we received for Xmas, so it's not terribly good at focusing up close. And one take was about all I could bear to do. But at least the general ideas still come across...

James, the iQube may of course be used as a home amp, but batteries absolutely need to be in place for it to function. And if it is connected to a charging cable, those batteries must be rechargeables, or BIG trouble will surely follow!
Sorry I can't help with question #2, but I'm sure somebody will post with a suitable RS solution.

charger plug dimensions
hello, iv'e purchased this amp and got this pdf from han's. say's on the pdf that the outer pin is 2.35mm and inner is 0.7mm but you can get away with 2.5mm on the outer dimension, inner dimension is the same 0.7mm, that's the smallest one at my local shop a it fit's fine. hope that helps.

Well done DD. I've opened mine a few times now and gently messagged the spring clips but I wish I had your video for the first time round. There are 2 key things in your video from my point of view.
1) It's hard from the instruction manual to know whether the technique for opening the cover requires brute force or finesse. The video clarifies that.
2) The manual doesn't include that step that you added on the web and in the video about partially closing the 1 spring side before attempting to open the second side. That missing piece of information was crucial for me.
I thought you did a good job on the video.
Hopefully Hans will see it as useful but I'm fairly certain his customers will.
Without knowing the economic consequences I also thought the rechargeable battery suggestion coming with the unit was a good one.
Neither of these two suggestions require Hans to forgo his design goals nor redesign the unit and both would reduce or eliminate the single greatest weakness of this otherwise totally enjoyable unit.

My Sanyo EneLoop batteries came today and are now installed. Probably will not do this again for a long time and glad of it.

Haha, that's great, Jeff! Will be quite helpful to a lot of members on the boards here. It's actually quite simple, that is, if you know the trick. Good on ya, mate!

It looks easier than it really is until it is done a few times to loosen those tabs.

Make sure you report your impressions for your iQube.
