(Now all I need is a good portable source to go with a great portable amp--any recommendations?)
I was just researching for a recorder and came across the Korg MR1.
This looks like it's by far the best portable source out there at any price.
The DAC it has is said to beat Lavry Apogee DAC1 etc.
And it plays DSD, if you have a way to rip SACD.
To find some good pro reviews about it search for the MR1000 which is the same except for things like mic preamps and bigger hd.
Hello everyone, I know that this thread has been long inactive bu tthere dont seem to be any others on the iqube and most people that seem to have experience with this little gem seem to be gathered here.
I have an rsa predator now but I am thinkin fof selling it in favour of an iqube because I do not really need a dac after all (I was thinking of using the predator with my laptop but in all the situations I am using my laptop I have my mp3player the iriver h340 with me as well).
I have no portable phones atm dince I sold my shure se530 (I did not really like the sound and the maintenance isnt really my thing).
I was really rather shure about getting the ultrasone edition 9s as my portable cans (a big leap of faith cause I have no experience with ultrasone) but I read in this thread that they dont match that well with the iqube. Any opinions on that and any other suggestions of portable cans that work well with the iqube and have good isolation? I have heard about the esw9s but I think they have a mor laid back sound (I like the grado sound and the k701 sound) and they dont seem to isolate so well.
Thanks in advance for any informationn,
Greetings, Anouk,

Not sure how I can post a link to my ebayfeedback (which is not much because i dont buy/sell there often and you cannot leave online feedback at local alternatives) but my ebayid is aradix85
so maybe you can check it that way.

I use my grados portable with my ipod classic and iqube!!
also have the predator and think best way to describe the iqube is that i forget it is there!
always seem to fiddle with the predator when playing music e.g. changing volume or switching gain!
iqube is on and left for couple hours of musical bliss!
very natural neutral non fatiguing sound.

Greetings, Anouk,
Hello Hans and everyone, I too would like to add that I think a matching upsampling dac for the iqube would be a really good idea! The only good portable usb dac +upsampler that I know of is the one inlcuded with the pico. The other one i know (but this one does not use batteries) is the headroom ultimate microdac (Which I suppose is great because I have the headroom pimped out desktop with max modules/max dac and I ave never before had my computer sound that great and I didnt think it was possible even with 320kbit mp3s). So I think there is need for a good portable (driven on batteries) upsampling usb dac. Though I am not sure if batteries have enough power for a good quality dac.
Greetings, Anouk,
