HeadAmp KGSS DX Edition is here!
I was hoping that I will receive the amp today, but I figured I'd have to wait till Monday when my mailman came and went without any package for me earlier today. Well, few hours later, my doorbell rings and I see my mailman at my door with the package containing the new amp! Woohoo!
I've set it up on my rack but haven't used it yet since I'm waiting for it acclimate to room temperature before turning it on. I'll also have to wait for my Omega II's charge before I do any listening. Then there are those huge Black Gate caps to break-in. I guess patience is the key here.
I think I'm finally done here, well, at least until Stax comes out with the rumored Omega III's.

"Deluxe"?
What's the "DX" stand for? Upgrades from the standard KGSS model, I assume?
Congrats on the new amp - enjoy. Post some pics, so we can live vicariously !

Congratulations! It must be cool to have the first model on the forum thus far.

I learn something new everyday here. You're supposed to do that?
What could go wrong if you don't follow this procedure?

What exactly does the DX signify?
And where are the pics?

Congratulations! You are going to love it. I'm telling you.
Those Caps are going to need many many hours. Be prepared for some weird (although subtle) changes on the sound signature for a while.
Any pictures?

KGSS DX Edition
Answering some questions about the DX Edition:
I asked to Justin around 9 months ago to write on my KGSS the "DX Edition" name in order to state their upgrades. Basically a DX Edition is a KGSS as maxed out as it can be.
The size was a big concern for me and I was looking for the smallest SS electrostat amp I could get. I asked to Justin if it would be possible to have the Blackgates placed in horizontal (they are not adding height if the power supply is placed vertical, saving several inches wide-wise). It might look compact but it's just a bit warm (almost cold) running 24/7, so it never runs hot. Unfortunately mine came with a Buzzz noise due to the transformer (Shipping issues for sure. Couriers are not careful) so I have to send it back to Justin (I should have sent it back months ago) but apart from that issue so easy to fix the amp is really good.
Here is a link with pictures of mine and a list of the options added.

Haj
Now you got a he man rig! Those big blackgates gonna stand the Omegas straight up. The best amp I ever heard with them is a KGSS, only bettered by the upgraded KGSS. Some day soon I hope to enjoy this combo again....

If you introduce a cold device in a warm environment, you might get condensation of some humidity creating little water drops that are not good for your gear if you turn it on. Better to wait a bit. These little drops evaporate soon once the device reach the temperature of the room.

Nomad, beautiful amp! I have a KGSS that's not working at the moment (not a Headamp) so I only had about an hour with it and my HE60's. Seeing those pics is tempting me to send mine to Justin to recase and repair (like he has the time).
Haj, is your amp the same as Nomads? Don't think for a minute just because Nomad linked to pics of his that this means you don't have to post pics.

Mine's just like Nomad's except it comes with two Stax jacks, one HE90 jack, and three inputs (two unbalanced and one balanced). Otherwise, all the upgrades are identical.

I know, I went through that with my Balanced Reference. You're right, changes were sometimes very weird before it settled.
I'll see if I can take some pics - good thing I hadn't connected it anything to it yet (it's just sitting on the rack at the moment).

congrats on your new amp. should match well with the rest of your components. so where are the pictures?
you can't be done... you have a HE90 jack on the amp but no HE90 headphone.

Thanks for explaining the condensation thing. I'll keep that in mind when I get any new equipment. I usually just tear open the package and fire up the new source or amp as fast as possible. Never again.

I bet every time you use the amp from here on out you are going to regret putting the HE90 jack on there. It's just going to sit there and taunt you until you can satisfy it with an HE90.

Well, to clarify, I wasn't responsible for the HE90 jack. It was a never used unit Justin had on hand I sort of lucked into when I was discussing with him about an amp for my Omega II's. But, yes, the HE90 jack is bit distracting.
Here are some pics(click on them for larger size).
I should've cleaned up the dust more, methinks.

Actually, I think the HE-90 plug means you have to sell it to an HE-90 owner as soon as you break it in... I'll PM you my shipping address...
