this question gets asked often. i'm always perplexed by it. if you are considering a GSX, most or all of your headphones should be balanced as well. If you're not going balanced, then a GSX is probably not the best use of funds.
When he announced the gs-x, Justin said that it would be a step up from the GS-1, even single ended. He made it balanced because the cost increase from single ended to differential wasn't really significant compared to the increase in cost compared to the GS-1. So even if you're not prepared to go balanced at this point, the GS-X is still supposed to be an improvement ove the GS-1.
Whether this is true or not is a matter you should judge for yourself, however. Everyones ears work differently, so you should listen, and decide on your own.

I have GSX now and I also had in the past GS-1, G-Lite (2x) and G-Lite V2 SE. Among all HeadAmp's dynamic amp products, GSX sounds most extended and smooth...even in single ended mode.

Vcoheda, it is true. It only makes sense to balance all the headphones. It's just I don't know if I am ready to balance my beautiful RS-1's. HD600 on the other hand...
