GL/DPS AND/OR XP7 W/DPS
I'm sort of at a crossroad here.I'm wondering if it would be better for me to order the dps for my GL or not order that and put my money torwards the xp7 with power supply. I intend to now keep my GL,however,in the near future I'm considering one of the two options ? Has anyone heard both systems with the dps at all and does the xp7 system outclass the GL w/dps ? I cant afford to do either right now,but it will be done within the next month or two. Naturally,it would be financially more tangible for me to just get the Headamp DPS. Is the xp7 system worth the price over the GL ? I would appreciate any input.

I would do some searches on the XP-7 and see how people describe it. I think you are talking a matter of flavor here first and foremost and their synergy with low and high impedance cans. You've got the Lite and know how it sounds, adding the DPS will imrpove things but will not transform the general sound you are hearing now. The XP-7 carries a little bit more of a laid back, less up front, possibly warmer flavor. I think there's a general underlying consensus that the XP-7 or Ray's amps tend to partner best with higher impedance cans like the HD650 where the Gilmore's generally tend to pair better with lower impedance cans like Grado's. Many will argue either amp will drive low or high impedance cans with no problem. But again I think the general consensus is that they pair best with one type then the other. So I'd keep that in mind with what type of cans you intend use. Keep in the mind the flavor - does the flavor of the Gilmore's appeal more or the general flavor of Ray's solid state amps in the XP-7/HR-2/SR-71 realm? Which amp is "better" is purely subjective first and foremost but I think most would agree there's a general feeling neither is better than the other, rather it's more a matter of flavor and ability.

Ok thanks for the info.I have no clue what the Ray Samuals' amps sound like.I thought the xp7 w/ad797 might be a good choice.I use both Grado and Sennheiser.Really,I do want something with a little more warmth. So yes,you did answer my question and thanks.
