doesn't DVD-A put out a 24/96 signal via the digital outputs ( toslink and coaxial)
I am not sure because the DV 8400 I tried was here before I bought the DAC1

DVD-A players don't output high res unless it the disc is unprotected. So the DAC supports high input, the sources/players support high res output, but the media itself is protected.

My advice to you:
- Use your own ears as everybody's hearing and preferences are different.
- Try to audition as much equipment as possible to find your sound.
- Buy used to save money.
