Any one heard the new TTVJ FET-A Amp?
Todd's new FET-A is on my short list for a new solid state amp. In e-mail exchanges, he has said he prefers it to the Cayin HA-1A, a tube amp he sells. But other than that I haven't come across many impressions. Has anyone spent any time with it who could provide more insights on SQ?
It is on my short list for a solid state amp to be hooked up to the tape out of my tube preamp. Other amps on the list are the KICAS Caliente, the Eddie Current SS, the Graham Slee Novo, and (if I want to stretch the budget a little) the Blue Circle SBH.

Well it came out pretty recently. So not many people have had the chance to listen to it yet.
There should be impressions popping up soon though, since Todd's been sending a few out on a loaner program.

I'd hold off on a solid state amp until we see some reviews... I think this amp is gonna rock some worlds.

I've got one coming on Monday. I'll let you know what I think when I have some time to listen. I'm relatively knew to the hobby, but I think I should be able to at least put into words what I hear .

Check out the meet impressions at the Fort Lauderdale Meet in March, 2009. The amp was there and a few of us had an opportunity to listen to it.

Voltron wrote of a review of it (and compared it to EC/SS) here.

There are also some impressions on the mid-illinois meet. As for myself, I really really liked it. It was a really great combo of the traditional SS detail with the warmness of tubes. A very good amp. It had a lot of energy and presented the music in a very lively way-- it was fun to listen to without losing any detail or bass. The bass was impactful but not prominent volume-wise, IMO.
Overall it is a very good amp, though I don't know whether I would be willing to pay $700+ retail because I think that there are relatively awesome offerings at the DIY level for less $$$.

I only paid $650 for mine and that's with tax and shipping included. I bought it from ttvj. I was intending to get a kicas caliente, but I didn't want to wait for them to get more in stock. Hopefully, Justin starts shipping out the Pico dacs soon so I can upgrade from my xonar.

I auditioned the TTVJ FET-A, burned it in for a few hundred hours, listened to many songs over many sessions, but ultimately decided to return the amp as it was really not my cup of tea. The easiest way to describe it is as punchy and somewhat forward. It may be best suited for people who want to add some Grado spice to their Sennheiser tea, which may be a good thing but not what I was personally looking for.

How does the FET-A compare to the Headamp GS-1?

And without further adieu...
She's a bit of a plain Jane, but if she's got it where it counts I'll still be down to clown.
And to give you an idea of her rather slender physique.
I recently sold my xonar so I have nothing resembling a quality source atm. Justin at Headamp said the Picos would start shipping at the end of the week so hopefully, I'll have mine in a reasonable amount of time. The trick will be staying content till then and not spending more money. I'll try to be strong.
