Question 07 Headroom Portable Desktop worthy upgrade from 06 Micro Stack?

I have the Micro Amp (with 06 desktop module) and DAC that are now discontinued in favour of the new Micro line.

I however keep getting intrigued by the Portable Desktop.
There is very little user feedback on this amp.

The Canadian $ being worth something these days, it is within reach if I sell my Micro Stack.
However, I am still concerned if the $1000 price tag will buy any significant improvement over the Micro Stack. It is still a lot of money after all.

The reasons why I am thinking about this are that is one unit with amp and dac so it's easier to carry even though it might be bigger then the Micro amp.
Rechargeable batteries. I am getting tired of swapping batteries in and out.
And off course hopefully it should sound better.

I've already talked with Mike at Headroom about this, but I also wanted to solicit some opinions here.

The one think I am not sure about it is not having a proper line out if you just want to use the DAC portion to feed another amp such as my XCAN V3 when at home. But perhaps that may not be a big deal.

I'm also really interested in that Portable Desktop, but I don't think anyone on Head-Fi has reported buying or hearing one yet. I assume it would sound similar to a regular desktop home amp combined with a desktop dac (so if anybody can compare that to a micro stack, it would probably be helpful), but I wonder how much the lack of the dedicated power supply would affect sq.

I've been thinking about taking an eventual leap from Hornet to Opera, but if this portable desktop gets good reviews, I might be lured by the convenience factor.
