X-fi Prelude with Vista x64?
I'm hoping for some feedback from anyone using an Auzentech Prelude in 64 bit versions of Windows Vista. I've built a new computer, trying this OS, and so far I think I will stick with it. Unfortunately, the driver conflicts between my Emu 0404 (PCI) and Audigy 2ZS are just too much in Vista... either one individually is fine but there is no chance of them both sitting in this system. Can't really blame this on Vista as the combo caused plenty of problems even in XP. But it is an issue, because both are really niche cards and neither can do everything I need by itself. And so the upgrade thought comes to mind. On paper, the X-fi Prelude seems like my best option. The question is whether it can get it done on a real system running Vista 64.
Basically here are things I need:
- High quality analog 2 channel playback at sample rates 44100 and 96000 hz.
- Crackle free ASIO performance at about 4ms latency (or less) settings for 44100 sample rate, and ideally for 96000 as well (I play a MIDI keyboard so low latency performance is very important).
- Proper hardware support for 3D audio in games when using headphones.
- Not causing pops, dropouts, blue screens of death, blue screens of death, etc.
Those are the priorities. Decent recording quality from the analog inputs would be a nice bonus too. Anything else is pretty much bonus. It's not likely that I will ever actually use this computer with a surround system.. just headphones or monitors through the analog outs.
