Default Thank you Iron_Dreamer: EMU-1212m Mod

It has been about a month since I got my EMU-1212 back from Iron_Dreamer and I can't tell you how blown away I am by the difference the mods have made.

I had three mods done:
bypass output caps
high-speed power caps
swap output opamps to LT1364

We agreed that the fourth mod (blackgates) would be overkill for my current listening environment and speakers so I decided to wait on that one.

I had my card for over six months before modding and I was well acquainted with the sonic properties. I truly loved the stock sound and did not think it could be improved on to any great degree... I was wrong.

Compared to the unmodded card I now have a very lively sounding card with a spectacular soundstage. And it has warmth and decay. Vocals and drum kits are amazing. Cymbals decay with realism like never before. All frequencies are improved. Bass is very lively and I can no longer pinpoint it coming from my sub. Mids are warmer and cleaner. Highs really sparkle now. The card is even faster and more detailed now but at the same time it is livelier and warmer.

I’m currently using a set of Klipsch Promedia 2.1’s with Foobar/ASIO.
