Default Technical question

Ok, I have ripped all my cd collection to my EXT USB HDD using EAC with Accurate Rip installed. I use an SB3 and an Entech 205.2 DAC. I have modded the DAC, better capacitors, regulators, diodes and power supply. The SB3 is virginal... (so far!!) I do not want to touch this yet.

My question is.... can the path that the data takes thru the computer be optimised??? i.e. can better decoupling caps be used on the chips that shift all your audio data around?? does anyone know what this path is?? I know I don't!!

Thanks in advance for any info..

The quality of SPDIF coming from the computer (via the SB3 or whatever audio adapter) is influenced by the stability of the power supplies. Modifications of the power supply on the sound card may improve the performance but this is not easily determined.

A technical question like this may be better answered on the Logitech Slim Devices forum.

I am feeding a Squeezebox 3 wirelessly from an external HD connected to a PC. The DAC on the SB is actually quite good so I run the phono outs to a stereo system. At bedside, I run the excellent coax or Toslink output into an iBasso D1 to headphones.

I'd take a look here WRT the SPDIF interface.

What caps, where? There is no "audio data path" in the PC in your set up as I understand it.

As far as your PC is concerned, it's just transferring data over ethernet to your SB3.

What should make that any different from sending data to your router, an networked hard drive, or any other ethernet device?
