I am building a multimedia computer system. No Gaming required.

AMD 939 3200 (probably gonna OC to 2.0ghz)
1gb ram

gonna connect to HK AVR510
Should I be getting some amp and which digital out sound card?

Also maybe recommend some speaker.
I am thinking Onix Reference or Strata Mini. (They were on sale awhile back.)

Budget on soundcard, amp, and 2ch. + bass speaker. around 2-3k.
(It's gonna power the whole living room...kinda open spaced area, so need something powerful, but not power hungry. Since my low budget won't allow me to buy some great AMP.)

Listen to pop, orchestra, hip hop, and oldies.

The DIY speaker aspect has a lot to offer, especially in terms of value. If you can handle building your own PC building your own speakers in the form a kit shouldn't be too much of stretch. Kits remove the two most difficult aspects of speaker design, cabinet construction, and crossover design.

Two good examples; Madisound SR71 and Parts Express User 701.

Ah...sorry for the misunderstanding...
I am not redesigning my house....just building a PC that would allow me to watch downloaded shows, pictures slideshows, and also use it as a jukebox.
So I don't have the tool nor the experience for woodwork.
I read that Onkyo SE-200 is better than EMU 1212?...

What's the difference between Floor standing and bookshelf? Is this a good place to ask these kinda quesitons?
or should I go over to AVS Forum

The cabinets are already assembled and pre-finished, there is no wood work involved.
