Default skipping problems

I put together a new PC, I am using the same versions of Foobar and ASIO. I am using the same PCI Emu0404 soundcard. The problem is a get skipping from time to time with this new computer. I have the buffer in foobar all the way up to 5 seconds. The only difference that I can think of is I am using AVG on this new computer.

Is there anything I can do to eliminate the skipping?

Run the DPC Latency checker to find out if some driver/service/process is behaving badly.

If you stream from CD, check that DMA transfer is enabled.

There are still so many possible culprits out there ... maybe going through the common tweaking path is the 1st step in solving it out.

You probably need more RAM. The most frequent cause of this is your OS preempting your music player for some background task or other.

I have 2GB of ram which is twice what I had in the old computer that didn't skip.

Also with the DPC Latency checker I am under 50 uS.
