Default A question about two sound devices in one computer?

Hi, I have a question about sound devices. I have two sound devices, one with PCI interface and one with USB. Is it possible that I can input the signal from one device and listen to it directly at the same time from the other one?

Thanks.

Actually I have a USB 5.1 channel gaming headphone. And my PCI sound card is Creative Live. I've tried windows XP and VISTA but both failed to work like that. If it is possible, I will search for a sound card that I can input the SPDIF signal from my XBOX360 and use the gaming headphone as the output. Please help me to find out if it is possible.

Thanks.

There's a few sounds cards with SPDIF inputs (Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio among others). Use the SPDIF input as the "mic" input and set your sound output to the USB device. It may require the purchase of a new sound card.

Alternately, you could get a set of gaming headphones that utilize either a 1/8" jack or a separate DAC/amp and use the digital out on your xbox straight into that. This would have the added benefit of bypassing your computer, eliminating the possibility of operating system interface problems.

Hmm... maybe it depends on which Live card you have there ... is there a S/PDIF input port? If there's then, doesn't it work when you set the headset as the preferred output (playback) device and the live as preferred input (recording) device on system audio settings?

Also, you could try by using a software solution ... there's an utility called "repeater" bundled w/ VAC (Virtual Audio Cable) ... remember mute the analog output from Live!... Audio Repeater application that transfers from any Wave In to any Wave Out port (some delay is expected).

Virtual Audio Cable Home Page

Another software solution could be EnergyXT 2 + Asio4All driver ... w/ ext2 you be able to route any input directly to available output devices ... or some ASIO/VST host software + Voxengo Recorder VST plugin which lets you route the signal from playback to any of the listed MME device...
