pops\clicks while listening (foobar + emu usb 0404)
Hi,
I found similar posts but none with a solution for this issue
I get occasional (every couple of seconds) small pops in the music when using the following setup:
I am using -
Windows 7
Foobar
-- No DSP's
Asio
Emu 0404 usb (external)
AKG k-701
Ears (Pretty sure this is not the problem :-) )
Does anyone know any issue with any of the combination here?
I used this setup (EMU + ASIO) on an XP on a different PC and it worked fine.

Thanks for all the replies:
- How do I change latency?
- I do have a wireless usb mouse and keyboard, but I also had that on my previous PC.
(I'm just noticing that moving my mouse seems to be causing the beeps!!!)
How can I resolve this????
EDIT: Not moving the mouse does not completely eliminate but it does reduce it.
- I'm running of a pretty strong modern desktop pc.

Ahha Watson!
I noticed the same problem with my Pro-ject usb dac which arrived yesterday. I'm using foobar + wasapi on vista and its a decent one year old desktop. I get these crackles only if I move my wireless usb mouse around and not otherwise. I do have this if my dac is not connected. Seems to be something inherent in the setup or usb dac combo.

Welcome to the club, its called bus noise,
it usualy originates from poor PCB design which causes signal leakage,
you can play around with the FSB or PCI latency settings on the motherboard to try to fix it, but usualy, it means "get a decent motherboard and psu"
i expiriance it with a X-fi xtreme music, Auzentech X-plosion and a HotAudio dac,
im about to give up and get a new board and psu, asus seems to be cleaner,

Yes sir. I have the same problem on my crappy lenovo laptop. Thing is....when I don't have anything plugged into the USB other than my D10, no pop. My other laptop has no problems.
I wonder if you use like a pci USB card it would eliminate the popping.

not sure, it will still draw power and clock signal from the main bus, so i suspect not,
i thinking as a solution to use the optical out of the auzentech x-plosion with a optical to RCA DAC, the optical should be clean,

pops, crackles and beeps are 3 different things...it's indeed more than likely a PCB shielding issue.

if the fountain is poisoned, the problem with this is that its a main bus problem, all data, clock signals and power arriving at the hardware is tainted,
