Default No signal recorded using 0404 with Cubase or Audition

Hi guys. This might be a long shot because its about recording, rather than playback, but hopefully a muso out ther will know the answer. I have an 0404 PCI, and I'm trying to record for my guitar pedal (Boss GT6). I've looked on some recording forums and noone knows.

In Cubase, I've set it up successfully for monitoring and playback, but it doesn't show the 0404 (or anything for that matter) under the VST input section. It shows it fine for output. Any reason why it wouldn't show that? The drivers are the latest. I've got ASIO installed (I'm currently using the E-Mu driver). So... when I arm tracks, hit record and play a little, although it monitors fine, when I press stop, instead of the wave form showing in the track, it just shows dead flat, and hasn't recorded anything. This happens with both the analog input and also the digital input (GT6 has a digital output).

Same also happens in Adobe Audition, it doesn't 'catch' any of the audio signal. I've attached my Patchmix setup for inspection. Any ideas? Desperate to get my musical ideas down in 1's and 0's so I can compose some songs! But right now they fade away cos I have a ***** memory
