New Asus Xonar HDAV1.3

I apologise if this has been posted before - I don't tend to follow the computer as source forum, and didn't come up with anything in a search.

Anyway, in my daily computer stuff reading, I came across this report on a new Xonar sound card from Asus: AnandTech: Computex 2008 - ASUS Brings Joy to Our Ears

PCM1796 DAC and CS5381 ADC, with socketed LM4562 OPAMPs. Also has a HDMI out. Could be a nice little piece of kit! Thoughts?

i hope asus learned that a aluminium cover and some leds dosnt make a good sounding audio card,

yea i saw this too. quickly skimming through though, it seems like you need their software to use its full potential.

"The output of these particular audio formats requires the use of the bundled ArcSoft media player from ASUS. Any fans of PowerDVD Ultra or WinDVD Plus will be out of luck if they expect uncompressed output of DTS-HD or TrueHD."
