So I got my emu1212 installed today (along with a few other good toys), and I've got it happily playing pink floyd right now, however i have a question. when i set up a new session in patchmix, what's the difference between minimum -10 and minimum +4?

+4 is louder output than -10. Choose whichever sounds better to you. I like using -10.

I thought that's what it was, even though i'm pretty sure the program claimed during the new session process that it had something to do with what type of outputs you were using, or something of the sort. bah whatever. The new setup already sounds heavenly, even though I still have about 99 hours of burn-in ahead of me.

the +4 is a different signal path from the -10, it's meant for people using balanced connections.

by that you mean using the balanced 1/4" connectors or using a completely balanced setup?

Completely balanced setup... Really it just means you get a "hotter" (louder) signal. A balanced setup handles this a bit better.

So you would suggest using -10 if you were to go the unbalanced route?

Just choose what's best to your ears and system. I like to use -10 but others like +4 in unbalanced.

When it comes to audio, this is always good advice.

What you mean by "isolate"?

Less jtter = clearer sound
Have you seen published results for the 1212M soundcard?
