Well after restarting again everything seems to be fine. I am now able to easily switch between waveOut, ASIO at 44K, and ASIO at 192K (using resampler, which requires its own E-MU Session).

After a bit of listening, I would say that what I listen to using ASIO definitely has better definition than it does with waveOut. I am having trouble discerning a major difference between just running at the standard 44K and resampling to 192K, however. Any hints on what to listen for to appreciate a difference there?

Sorry if this is turning into a bit of new owner's diary, but I have more feedback.

I can now say with some confidence that upsampling to 192K sounds better than none at all (44K output). Or it could just be the dreaded placebo effect.

By the way, the only other DSP component I'm using is Crossfeed. Without it, I can "feel" myself starting to get tired of using the headphones after awhile. Maybe the amp will help with this?

Yes there are a good number of people who like to use upsampling. It all depends on your preferece and your gear. To me on my setup upsampling reduces the quality.

Listen for a softer/gentler high end (more analog-like), and an ability to "listen into" the music more deeply (if that makes any sense). With my card, there's an overall lessened sense of constriction... it's a more open, relaxed sound.

Those are my impressions of upsampling, almost to a T
