Bumping this since it is a decent thread for asking Elite Pro related questions.
Is there any benefit from using the resampler in Foobar? PPHS/SRC.
Since the benefit of audio creation mode is that it doesn't resample to 48khz, and all my music (lossy to lossless) uses a samplerate of 44.1khz does it make sense to not use any resampler at all?
If you are using audio creation mode, no, don't use any software resampling, just let the X-Fi clock at the rate of the audio. Makes no sense to do otherwise. However even if you are using one of the other modes, leave software reasmpling off and let the X-Fi take care of it. It's resampling engine is exceedingly high quality and doesn't take any CPU time. It's one of the things you paid for (it's a large block of that DSP), use it.
hmm.... so do you think the X-fi xtrememusic would be worth the extra $40 over the Audgiy ZS for 70% gaming - 30% music? Or should i get an Audigy ZS + a pa2v2 instead of just a X-fi xtrememusic?
the headphones used will be Beyerdynamic DT770 (80 ohm).

I had the audigy 2, and the full price of upgrading to the extreme music was worth it, to me. I would recommend the $40 difference. Buy your pa2v2 later.
I have been playing games in audio creation mode (bit matched) for a while now, as sounds seem more natural, just as it does with playing music (IMO!) Does anyone else do this? I thought that it would not work, have no EAX support, or whatever, but I can enable this in a game's options, and the game runs fine. I have not tried benchmarking, but I'm sure if there is any performance hit, it is minimal.
I am wondering, is there a standard sampling rate that games use? I'm pretty sure setting low in options will likely play at 22khz, but is the high setting going to be 44.1, or the 48khz that game cards insist on?
I have an x-fi elite pro without the breakout box. How should I improve my sound quality?
someone told me that if I use a mini to mini to plug an amp into the x-fi elite pro that it will have some quality loss. is this true?
if it is...does this mean I should get a dac to hook up to the x-fi elite pro? any recommendations? my goal is to be able to power the HD580/HD600 out of my x-fi elite pro...I hope this doesn't mean I have to pay for a dac and then an amp...
