After 42 mins music stopped coming out, I rebooted the computer and it didn't help. Then I shut off the computer for 10 seconds and turned it on again, music was working again, but after 46 mins it stopped working again.
I am using Toslink.
Then I plugged headphones into the analog output, I could hear the music going on and off erratically.
I switched off the computer again and turned it on, this time I paused Foobar and left it over night. The next day I tried it again and the sound works good.
Is the EMU0404 overheating or something? I have used it for almost 4 years and have played back music through it 24/7.
Try another soundcard if you can to see if it's not your motherboard or something, it does sound like it is dying because after 4 years it never had a problem until now.
