I inserted a trim control into the ASIO strip, but I only find it lowers the volume but not eliminating the clipping. The peak meter still hits 100%. Am I doing the right thing or not? X_X

Yeah, I do find it odd, especially in a professional market card. Some people don't even notice the clipping, since it's not apparent just by looking at the channel levels. With the unreliable clipping indicators (and with the default levels causing clipping ), it's practically impossible to set up ideal gain staging.

derek8555, my computer with the 1212M/PatchMix is packed away at the moment, so I can't walk you through it, but as thomaspf says, the order of the inserts matters, since I believe they're all in series by default. If the trim control is after the peak meter, then the peak meter may not display the volume change, so just flip them around.
