Default Linux and Super Pro USB DAC

Anyone know if the Super Pro USB DAC will work with Linux?
Is it just plug-and-play or do I need special drivers?

On the website there's nothing mentioned concerning drivers.

If you have a newer kernel (2.6.14+) compiled with ALSA, USB audio is plug-and-play. Type "uname -r" without quotes in a terminal to find which kernel you have.

If you have something like Ubuntu, SuSE, or Mandriva, you should be fine. Some more technical distros like vanilla Debian, Slackware, Gentoo, etc. may require a custom kernel to be compiled with ALSA to make it work. I used to do this every couple weeks or so w/ my Debian machine. Compiling a kernel may seem daunting the first time but it really isn't that bad. If you don't have any idea what this means, you probably have a consumer distro and should be fine.

^ You won't need to recompile the kernel to work with usb audio. Usb audio has worked for a long time, even with the OSS soundsystem. Even with "techie" distros like slackware and gentoo, its gonna be enabled by default.

To the OP: You will be fine. Plug and play will work, you might not even have to reboot :-)

Oh, and I grew up and lived and Des Moines, I just moved from california recently. Hows old dsm? The most exciting thing I've heard thats happened was the new MLK to fleur expressway thing. LOL

Ok thanks, I use Fedora Core 6 and I have Kernel 2.6.18, so everything should be fine.
