Default Jriver Media Center question

HI, I am using the Jriver to rip my CDs to my computer. I know that the CD tracks are supposed to have a quality of 320kbp but after ripping them to the laptop, each vary between 140-180kbp. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not sure what you mean by "the CD tracks are supposed to have a quality of 320kbp ". The bit rate of the uncompressed audio on a CD is much higher than 320 bps. If you want MP3 files from JRiver MC 11/12, you need to specify the MP3 encoder using the

tools/options/encoding/encoder.

sequence of menu choices. Then click on Encoder settings to select CPR or VBR and a bit rate or quality level. (CBR and 320 bps in your case.)

If you have already done that, then perhaps someone will provide another suggestion.

You’re ripping with the default settings. If you want 320kbps you must go to options and in the options window select encoding then select MP3 encoder and under that choose the setting CBR and your bit rate.

You may also want to go to CD & DVD and under advanced ripping options choose the CD drive you rip with and for copy mode choose secure. That will enable error correction when ripping.
