I love my Klipsch speakers, but then again I had upgraded from a very old Altec Lansing 2.1 system, so anything would have sounded great to me.
That being said, they are very powerful speakers, I have to put my bass at 50% level so I do not get complains from people living under me. The mids are indeed a bit muffled as ykim8 said, but overall for 200.00 you can't go wrong.
You should consider the Swan m10 as a 2.1 alternative in the same price range. I have them and they are very musical sounding, especially for computer speakers. The midrange is actually their greatest strength, and vocals really seem to pop out at you. They won't have the power or the bass presence of the Klipsch, but for near-field use they are surprisingly natural and fun sounding. They also don't have a headphone output (I just use a splitter). But if you're planning on using these speakers mainly for music, I'd strongly consider the m10 (or their big brother the m200) over the Klipsch.
edit: you can purchase both at theaudioinsider.com.

Wow, the m10 looks goooood, I've never heard of it before... great mids on a cheap 2.1 system? weird...
Anyways I've owned the Logitech Z-2300 for about 2 years I think, I feel very happy with it. I think I bought it for about $120 and IMO it was a great buy.
It has it's faults, though. To me, the lower mids sound very empty. the speaker cables are permanently attached and not very long (ok for a computer desk, but not for putting one on each side of a small room), and the sub enclosure is giant with an awkward heatsink protruding out of the back. Also, I like the bass quality of these, but there is too much of it for most music, I think logitec knew this because they included a bass adjustment knob on the volume thing, i usually keep it just short normal.
Its pros would be reasonable sound with a huge low end (very clean compared to other cheap 2.1 bass sound, not boomy)and an overall sense of quality. It can also put out some loud sound. Ive used it for small dance parties. *Also the headphone out is powered.
For electronica, hip-hop and the like, these are perfect. For when i want to listen to rock (i like weezer's sound on these) they just need a lil' bit of equalizer lovin in the mids and a bass reduction on the knob. For really cheap computer speakers, these are the best I've heard overall. They're sure to impress any non-audiophile too :P
For computer speakers, I think they are very good. Thats not saying much, but they are the best PC speakers I've heard.
X2 I still use mine for my secondary PC and I still get a kick out of how good they sound for computer speakers. Of course I could pick them apart too but for the price/purpose they are great.
For the price, pretty good. Unlike some of the cheaper Logitech speakers, the headphone jack in the Klipsch ProMedias is powered, which is a good thing for headphone users.
Depends on which logitech speakers. A quick way to test is to plug phones in to a device, like an ipod, then plug that device in to the speakers (at the same volume) and see if the headphones can be driven noticeably louder through the speaker's headphone jack.
I liked that the promedias had a speaker on/off button that was independent of whether or not headphones were plugged in, and I liked the aux in jack too.
I hated how the volume pot became terribly scratchy and had dead spots - I had three of them and they all went this way. I'd avoid any of klipsch's computer speakers unless they had a digital volume controller (some did) - the analog pots they use are garbage.
