The data will be the same, so as long as the DAC doesn't have a huge dependency on the timing of the incoming data, you'll be fine. Assuming that thing can output the data at 44K, that is.

actually laptops are worse than a 'thing' (no offence)..
even i am a laptop owner and find internal soundcard most pathetic audio source even on high end laptops.

I never said that laptops were a good digital source. I was just kidding by calling this computer a laptop.
Usually laptops "sound card" are onboard and the sound coming out of it is not really good, that's why I plan on buying an usb DAC when I have money.
Anyway, laptops aren't the point in here. I just wanted to share with you the elder of digital sources.
