Help with setup

Hey guys, I'm just getting started in this crazy world of computer audio as I've been mainly a component system guy my whole life. I have a PowerMac G5 and was wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade my soundcard to an M-Audio Audiophile 192. Will this really help?

My final system will look something like this: Soundcard>CIAudio VDA-1 with VAC-1>Gilmore Lite>one of my many phones (Grado, AudioTechnica, Sony, etc.).

What do you think, do I need the M-Audio card or can I use the stock G5 with TOSlink?
