Help no sound from AV710

Now what I don't understand is why is the volume effected by the Windows volume control when I'm using line out? I thought line out was unamplified.

The card will be doing some level of amplification, otherwise you wouldn't get sound at all. In this way, the card acts like a preamp, outputting a relatively low-level signal that must be amplified later. If you want optimal gain staging (and your amp can handle your sound card's line output at full strength), leave the line out slider all the way up.
