hey, i just ordered some grado sr-225's and am currently using on board sound, my next upgrade will be a sound card or external DAC like the 0404.
any one have some suggestions on what would be best for my sr-225's?
Get the USB version of 0404 instead of PCI. An external USB sound card is definitely a logical upgrade from onboard sound. As well, most if not all headphones benefit from a headphone amp. When I was upgrading to external sound card, I've chosen one with RCA output jacks instead of TRS jacks because I wanted to connect my stereo without TRS-RCA adapters. I tend to avoid adapters whenever possible for cost and sound quality reasons.
i guess i didn't makeit to clear, but i was looking at the external USB 0404 "or external DAC like the 0404."
but does anyone have any other picks for an internal or external card?
hey, ocn headphones club!
and thanks, i will have to look into it, recommend a decent amp while you are at it? (preferably not to pricey, aka around 200 would be nice, but up to 300 would be acceptable.)

Not sure what OCN Headphones club is, but I'm glad you're excited about it
Good $200-$300 headphone amps: Go DIY! CKK-III, PPAv2, M^3, Millet MAX, SOHA+JISBOS (must have JISBOS for SOHA).

thanks for your help.
nice, ill look into that when im thinking about getting an amp, but probably going to focus on external/internal sound card like an em-u 0404 or an auzentech prelude and was wondering what my best option would be
