Default distortion in sound

What can I do to get a sound with less distortion? The speakers does a bit distortion when I turn up the volume!Trade the sound card-Realtek AC 97- or buy a better speakers?I have Logitech X-230 2.1.So what is the best move?
External Edirol sound card or a M-Audio StudioPro 3 speakers?Or even a Soundblaster audigy SE for 40 Euros!

I started having problems with my logitech z3 system, with massive clipping and distortion when I turned the bass up too high in winamp. It was never that bad, so I wasn't sure what was going wrong.

I'd say just using a flat EQ might help.

But at any rate, a new soundcard would help too. I need a new one myself, my SB Auigy 4 isn't great.
