At the moment I listen to CD's on my Linn Klassic and Grado SR-80's. I also have about 40GB of mp3's on my PC (iTunes) which I listen to through my motherboards crappy built in audio (line out) to aux in (phono) on my Linn.
My Linn Klassic is one of the original ones which didnt have any Digital inputs. All it has are phono inputs.
What I wanted to know is is there anything I can do to improve the sound quality of the music I play from my pc?. What are my options? or am I stuffed as my Linn has no digital inputs?

A few options exist
1) Install a separate sound card and bypass the onboard chip
2) As 1 but a card that has a digital output and also add a separate DAC
3) As 1 or 2 but use a USB card so you dont have to open the box
1/2 are the most reliable solutions as USB can be a bit flaky with sound devices
Specifics depend on your budget and how much faffing around you want to do with
your PC internals..

Depends if the separate DAC is better than the one internal. If you give a rough budget I'm sure you'll get a few options. I use the Headamp Pico (USB), Slim Devices Squeezeboxes (wireless) and Lavry DA10 (as my laptop has a optical out) for different uses. Computer audio has come a long way recently so it all depends on amount you want to toss at the problem.

You can also do some of the typical things people try to get better sound. For instance, if you are using Windows XP, it is notorious for degrading the quality of audio output due to the architecture of the OS itself. The easiest way to get around this if you're using on-board audio is to get a Kernel Streaming plugin for Winamp or Foobar, whichever you listen with. This is defenitely something you should be toying with if you do not yet use anything other than the analog-out of your on-board sound.
