Bose companion 5 gaming - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio

I have a set of Bose companion 5 speakers,which i managed to pick up on sale.

But, in terms of gaming, I get very confused as i don't know if i should set the speakers to 2.1 or 5.1, and in CS:S this is a big issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Those are 2.1 speakers? You'll have to test and figure out what works better. I know for headphones you get much better directional audio if you have everything set up correctly outside of CS:S and then set CS:S to 5.1, but I don't know if that'll work with speakers.

Just do some tests. Start your own game and throw some grenades while turning to see if the sound is correct, then try the other mode and see which sounds better/more accurate.
